Salary Range: $59,000 - $93,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software and G-code.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
  • Select optimal tooling, cutting parameters (speeds, feeds), and machining strategies.
  • Perform program simulations and dry runs to verify accuracy and prevent collisions.
  • Optimize existing programs to improve cycle times, material utilization, and part quality.
  • Diagnose and resolve programming-related issues during production runs.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel on process improvements.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive programming documentation and revision control.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit) for CNC lathe programming.
  • Expert knowledge of G-code and M-code for manual programming and editing.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, including GD&T specifications.
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, and material properties for turning operations.
  • Experience with program proving, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC lathe processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multiple CAD/CAM software platforms (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Esprit).
  • Proficiency in manual G-code programming and editing for process optimization.
  • Experience programming multi-axis CNC lathes or machines with live tooling.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and measurement tools (e.g., CMM, micrometers, calipers).
  • Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization strategies for various materials.
