Salary Range: $58,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs (G-code, M-code) for lathe operations using CAD/CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding, and machining parameters (feeds, speeds, depths of cut).
  • Utilize simulation software to verify program accuracy, detect collisions, and optimize tool paths.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues on the shop floor to ensure production efficiency.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive program documentation, setup sheets, and tool lists.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements for cycle time reduction, material utilization, and part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit) for CNC lathe programming.
  • Expertise in G-code and M-code programming, including manual editing and optimization.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
  • Thorough understanding of CNC lathe operations, tooling selection, and workholding.
  • Proven experience in optimizing machining processes and troubleshooting issues on CNC lathes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-axis (e.g., C, Y, B-axis) or sub-spindle lathe programming.
  • Proficiency in dedicated CNC simulation and verification software (e.g., Vericut).
  • Experience with post-processor customization or development for CAM systems.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T application and metrology principles.
