Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit CNC programs for 3-axis to 5-axis milling machines using CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters (speeds, feeds, depth of cut) to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Perform program verification using simulation software to detect and correct potential collisions or errors before machining.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot machining problems, improve existing programs, and develop new processes.
  • Optimize CNC programs for cycle time reduction, tool life improvement, and part quality enhancement.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for CNC programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications to determine optimal machining strategies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM) for generating toolpaths.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming for 3-axis and multi-axis CNC mills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and apply GD&T principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in tooling selection, fixture design, and process optimization for various materials.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC mill operation, setup, and troubleshooting of machining processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced multi-axis (4/5-axis) programming.
  • Proficiency with additional CAD/CAM software platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  • Experience with fixture design and custom workholding strategies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
