Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections of first articles against engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
• Verify material certifications, special processes, and finish requirements for compliance.
• Generate accurate and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 or customer-specific standards.
• Utilize and calibrate a variety of precision measuring equipment, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances, initiating corrective action requests as needed.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models to ensure accurate inspection.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and improve product quality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated expertise in using a wide range of precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM).
• Relevant experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment, with specific focus on First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
• Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) requirements and experience in completing comprehensive inspection documentation.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and manufacturing quality standards.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
• Proficiency in 3D scanning or other advanced non-contact metrology techniques.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
