Controls Engineer | Byron Center, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
  • Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated automation hardware.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with existing control systems and automated machinery.
  • Commission new equipment, production lines, and automation projects, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Optimize and improve control system performance, reliability, and efficiency through programming modifications.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel on control system functionalities.
  • Ensure all control system designs and implementations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and sensor technologies.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Ability to design, troubleshoot, and commission control panels and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, or advanced motion control applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Proficiency with SCADA system development and MES integration.
  • Programming and integration experience with industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).
  • Familiarity with data historians (e.g., OSI PI, Ignition) and SQL databases.
