Salary Range: $61,000 - $93,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements and quality checks using metrology instruments to ensure tool accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve tooling malfunctions and production issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling design and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and quality control standards in toolroom operations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Journeyman Tool Maker certification or 5+ years of proven experience in tool and die making.
  • Proficiency in operating and setting up a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
  • Expertise in interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs) to ensure tight tolerances.
  • Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and their properties, including basic knowledge of heat treatment processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for design and advanced tool path generation.
  • Experience with various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) for tool repair and modification.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes and material science applications.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs or other advanced metrology equipment.
