Materials Manager | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels.
• Develop and implement material planning strategies to support production schedules.
• Oversee all aspects of material flow, from procurement to production and dispatch.
• Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and quality of materials.
• Utilize and maintain ERP/MRP systems for accurate material forecasting and planning.
• Lead and develop the materials management team, including inventory control and warehouse staff.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities related to materials and logistics.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in supply chain management, inventory control, and logistics within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for planning, procurement, and inventory management.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including hiring, training, and performance management.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities to optimize costs and ensure timely delivery.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for forecasting, demand planning, and material flow optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• APICS CSCP or CPIM certification.
• Experience with advanced planning systems (APS) or supply chain optimization software.
• Proven track record in implementing supply chain digitalization or automation projects.
