Staff Accountant | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $54,000 - $84,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Support the cost accounting team with inventory valuation, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold calculations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Participate in internal control testing and provide documentation for audits.
• Manage and maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Process payroll and related tax filings.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems common in manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
• - Familiarity with cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average).
• - Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) for data analysis.
• - Understanding of production processes and their impact on financial reporting.
• - Certification such as CPA or CMA.
