Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs (G-code, M-code) for lathe machining operations.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices for specific parts.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Develop and refine machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and ensure part quality.
  • Utilize CAM software for program generation, simulation, and collision detection.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues during production setup and run.
  • Generate and maintain detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and program documentation.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for CNC lathe programming.
  • Strong ability to write, edit, and optimize G-code and M-code for 2-axis and multi-axis lathes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing tolerances.
  • In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, material properties, and machining parameters (feeds/speeds).
  • Experience with machine setup, program proving, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience programming multi-axis lathes (e.g., Y-axis, sub-spindle, live tooling).
  • Proficiency with advanced simulation software (e.g., Vericut, NCSIMUL).
  • Familiarity with post-processor development or modification.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with CMM programming or metrology best practices.
