IATF Quality Engineer | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the IATF 16949 compliant Quality Management System (QMS).
• Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.
• Conduct and manage internal, process, and supplier audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements.
• Manage APQP deliverables, including FMEAs, Control Plans, and PPAP submissions for new product launches and engineering changes.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving processes, and enhancing overall product quality.
• Act as a primary liaison for customer quality concerns, ensuring timely communication and resolution of issues.
• Monitor and analyze key quality metrics and performance data to identify trends and drive proactive quality improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Deep understanding and practical application of IATF 16949 standard.
• Proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
• Demonstrated expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Experience conducting internal and/or supplier quality system audits.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Proficiency in Minitab or other advanced statistical analysis software.
• Experience with customer-specific requirements and direct OEM customer interface.
• Proven experience in supplier quality development or advanced supplier assessments.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launch activities.
