Salary Range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test tooling solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify tooling needs and improve existing designs.
  • Perform root cause analysis on tooling failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage tooling projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Optimize tooling performance, reduce cycle times, and improve product quality.
  • Maintain and update tooling documentation, including drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling components.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for designing and analyzing tooling.
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining) and their tooling requirements.
  • Experience with DFM/DFA principles and their application to tooling design.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) for tooling applications.
  • Proficiency in advanced simulation software (e.g., FEM, CFD) for tooling design and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with robotics and automation in manufacturing, particularly for tool changing or part handling.
  • Certified in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Expertise in a specific exotic material or process (e.g., superalloys, composites, high-pressure die casting).
