Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify welding procedures specifications (WPS) and welding data sheets.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on welding processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for welding defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to optimize weld designs for manufacturability.
  • Perform welder qualifications and ensure adherence to industry standards and codes.
  • Implement and maintain welding quality control programs and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate new welding technologies and materials for potential application.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on welding processes.
  • AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or equivalent certification.
  • Proficient in various welding techniques (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW) and their application to different materials.
  • Strong understanding of NDT methods, weld quality control, and relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).

Bonus Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Experience with robotic welding systems and automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis.
  • Project management experience, including leading cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of advanced welding processes such as laser welding or friction stir welding.
