Salary Range: $55,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on existing tooling.
• Operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications to produce tooling.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality of manufactured tools.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool performance and manufacturing processes.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction to meet specific application requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Tool Maker or in a precision machining role.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
• Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM).
• Thorough understanding of various tool steels, heat treatment processes, and tooling assembly.
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or a technical degree/certification in Tool & Die Making.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in CAD/CAM software for complex tool design and simulation.
• Experience with Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) operations.
• Practical experience with heat treatment processes for various tool steels.
• Strong background in precision grinding techniques (e.g., jig grinding, surface grinding).
