Salary Range: $62,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in East Lansing that are seeking Tool Makers. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD designs for tooling fabrication.
• Operate precision machinery including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment to manufacture tool components.
• Fabricate, assemble, and fit components for complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform repair, maintenance, and modification of existing production tooling.
• Inspect and test finished tools for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and production processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Journeyman Tool Maker certification or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in operating a wide range of manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
• Expertise in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Advanced knowledge of precision measurement techniques and the use of various inspection tools.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex tooling, dies, and fixtures.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
• Experience operating and programming CMMs or other advanced metrology equipment.
• TIG or laser welding experience for tool repair and modification.
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels and materials.
