Staff Accountant | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $62,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• - Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments and collections.
• - Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• - Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including variance analysis and reporting.
• - Support inventory accounting functions, including cost accounting, cycle counts, and valuation.
• - Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate costing of goods sold and work-in-progress.
• - Participate in internal control testing and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• - Assist with the preparation of tax filings and respond to auditor requests.
• - Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the accounting department.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise).
• Experience with inventory valuation and cost analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
• - Familiarity with cost accounting principles and practices
• - Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables, macros)
• - Prior experience in a publicly traded company or with SOX compliance
