Supplier Quality Engineer | Rockford, MI

Salary Range: $75,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement quality plans for new and existing suppliers.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Monitor supplier performance through data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes and product quality.
• Review and approve supplier documentation, such as inspection reports and certificates of analysis.
• Participate in new product introduction (NPI) teams to ensure supplier readiness and quality.
• Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and track their closure.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in supplier quality management, auditing, and corrective action processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949).
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Root Cause Analysis).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and other supplier qualification tools.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software and analysis.
• - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
• - Certification in ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or equivalent.
• - Experience with root cause analysis tools like 8D, 5 Whys, or Fishbone diagrams.
• - Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
