Inspection Technician | Grandville, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $68,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly in inspection reports and quality management systems.
• Identify and isolate non-conforming materials or products, initiating appropriate disposition procedures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality standards to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection equipment by performing routine cleaning and basic calibration checks.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated ability to accurately use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles, inspection methodologies, and non-conformance reporting procedures.
• Exceptional attention to detail and observational skills for identifying product defects and deviations.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results, maintain detailed records, and generate quality reports.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification (e.g., ASQ CQT) or Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience operating or programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
• Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Ability to interpret 3D CAD models or digital engineering drawings.
