Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize welding processes to ensure product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain welding procedures, specifications, and quality control standards.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and techniques for various manufacturing applications.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct welding process training and qualification for welding personnel.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability of new product designs.
  • Monitor and analyze welding performance data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in welding process selection, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and their applications.
  • Knowledge of welding metallurgy, weldability of different materials, and failure analysis.
  • Experience with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
  • Proficiency in welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welder qualification testing.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with automated welding processes (e.g., robotic welding, seam welding)
  • - Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection
  • - Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application to welding operations
  • - Certification in specific welding processes or materials (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector)
  • - Experience with welding simulation software
