Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Program CNC lathes using CAM software and G-code.
  • Develop and optimize tool paths, cutting speeds, and feed rates.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding methods.
  • Perform test runs, troubleshoot, and debug CNC programs.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers for process improvement.
  • Ensure programs meet quality standards and production deadlines.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit) for 2-axis and multi-axis lathe programming.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code for manual program editing and optimization.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid knowledge of tooling, workholding, offsets, and machining strategies for various materials.
  • Experience with machine setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting of CNC lathe programs.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for fixture design or part analysis.
  • Experience programming multi-axis or live tooling lathes.
  • Knowledge of metrology and CMM inspection processes.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to develop or customize post-processors for CAM systems.
