Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and write CNC programs (G-code) for lathe operations using CAD/CAM software.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, 3D models, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding devices for specific part geometries and materials.
  • Create detailed setup sheets and tooling lists to guide machine operators.
  • Optimize tool paths, feeds, and speeds to enhance machining efficiency, part quality, and tool life.
  • Perform program simulation and verification to identify and correct potential errors before machining.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for CNC lathe programming (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
  • Expertise in G-code and M-code for manual programming, editing, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and workholding specific to lathes.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Proven experience in program prove-out, troubleshooting, and process optimization for CNC lathes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-axis or mill-turn programming.
  • Proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software for tooling or fixture design.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with post-processor development or customization.
