Salary Range: $64,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tools and dies, implementing corrective actions.
• Sharpen and repair punches, dies, and other tooling components.
• Maintain and clean tools and dies to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent experience (4+ years) as a Tool and Die Maker.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with GD&T.
• Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machinery (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM) for precision part fabrication.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties for various tool steels.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex progressive dies, fixtures, and tooling.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam)
• Proficiency in advanced machining techniques (e.g., EDM, CNC multi-axis machining)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex tooling issues
• Certification in a specialized area (e.g., mold making, progressive dies)
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
