Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving commercial growth by identifying, evaluating, and securing new aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue opportunities. This includes expanding scheduled and charter flight services, strengthening cargo partnerships, optimizing retail concessions, and enhancing terminal service offerings. The role involves business case development, marketing initiatives, stakeholder collaboration, and contract management to ensure sustained commercial success.
Functional Accountabilities
Aeronautical Development
- Conduct route analyses to identify new flight opportunities and increase existing load factors.
- Support tourism-driven charter traffic and general aviation growth.
- Engage with cargo operators to develop new logistics partnerships.
Non-Aeronautical Development
- Expand commercial revenue streams, including retail, F&B, parking, and car rental services.
- Align commercial offerings with passenger needs to enhance airport experience.
Business Case Development
- Prepare feasibility studies and financial models to support commercial proposals.
- Provide insights to leadership to guide investment and partnership decisions.
Marketing & Promotion
- Represent the airport at industry forums, exhibitions, and aviation events.
- Contribute to route marketing, branding, and promotional campaigns.
Contract & Relationship Management
- Maintain partnerships with airlines, vendors, and tourism authorities.
- Support contract negotiations and performance tracking.
Customer and Reporting
- Analyse traffic data and market trends to support business decisions.
- Ensure transparent reporting of commercial performance and initiatives.
Communication & Working Relationships
- Collaborate with finance and operations to align commercial strategies.
- Negotiate with airlines, vendors, and tourism bodies to secure new business.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Aviation, Marketing, Travel & Tourism, or a related field.
- IATA or ACI certification in Air Service Development, Route Development, or Airport Commercial Management preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years in business development, aviation commercial management, or related fields.
- Experience with airport authorities, airlines, or concessionaires is advantageous.
Other Requirements (Safety Accountability)
- Comply with safety policies and report any concerns or incidents.
- Support audits and investigations as needed.
