Job Description:
The Set Medics is seeking certified EMTs, paramedics, and lifeguards with experience in on-site safety and basic emergency response to support productions in and around the Los Angeles, Los Angeles County area. As a Combo Medic-Lifeguard, you will be responsible for both general medical standby and water safety supervision on set for film, TV, streaming, commercials, and live events. This dual-role position requires situational awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide basic first aid and general health support during productions.
- Monitor the well-being of the cast and crew and support the enforcement of safety protocols.
- Respond to minor injuries or on-set incidents with appropriate care and communication.
- Coordinate with EMS for escalated care or transport when needed.
- Maintain medical kits and safety equipment in ready condition.
- Assist with identifying potential safety concerns and reinforcing established protocols.
Document all incidents in accordance with company standards
- Offer guidance on health topics, including hydration, fatigue, and environmental stress.
Qualifications:
- Must hold current EMT, Paramedic, RN, or equivalent certification and a valid lifeguard certification (combo role requires both). Candidates with broader field experience, such as fire or rescue backgrounds, are encouraged to apply.
Valid CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in set medic, event medic, or lifeguard roles (e.g., festivals, productions, public pools).
- Commitment to staying current on health and safety practices relevant to occupational and on-location work.
- Availability for variable hours, including nights, weekends, and potential travel. Shift acceptance is always optional, but candidates should be comfortable with nontraditional scheduling.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Applicants must be highly responsive during onboarding and shift availability windows once active.
- Must have a fully stocked BLS kit, professional liability insurance (for medics), and a rescue tube (for lifeguards). Applicants without these will not advance.
