JOB SUMMARY:
The Agency is assisting Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation in the recruitment of a full-time Director of Finance to join their team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Foundations operational and financial functions, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and organizational sustainability.
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support executive decision-making.
- Oversee all accounting and bookkeeping functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, donation reconciliation, and financial data integrity.
- Maintain strong internal financial controls, safeguarding Foundation assets and ensuring proper stewardship of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, CRA regulations, gaming requirements, audit standards, and organizational financial policies.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, coordinating audit preparation, documentation, and implementation of audit recommendations.
- Oversee financial administration and reconciliation for fundraising events, gaming activities, campaigns, and other Foundation revenue-generating initiatives.
- Manage cash flow, deposits, petty cash, electronic transactions, and financial reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate processing of all funds.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial systems, processes, reporting tools, and operational workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support organizational budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation in collaboration with the CEO.
- Maintain effective working relationships with auditors, financial institutions, vendors, regulators, and key operational partners.
- Contribute to organizational leadership by supporting operational planning, policy development, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field is required.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or operational leadership.
- Experience in nonprofit financial management, fund accounting, or charitable organizations is preferred.
- Experience managing audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with bookkeeping systems, accounting software, and financial reporting tools.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally and regionally as required.
- Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector search are required.
