Job Summary

The Chief Billing Officer (CBO) is responsible for overseeing the organization's end-to-end billing operations, revenue assurance, invoicing accuracy, and collections processes. This role ensures timely and accurate billing across all financial products and services, enhances revenue capture, and improves cash flow management.

The CBO plays a key role in optimizing billing systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and aligning billing operations with customer experience and organizational revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Billing Operations Management

Oversee end-to-end billing processes, including invoicing, reconciliation, and collections

Ensure accurate and timely billing for all products and services (loans, fees, insurance premiums, investment services)

Standardize billing procedures and controls across business units

Monitor billing cycles and resolve discrepancies

2. Revenue Assurance & Accuracy

Ensure accurate revenue recognition and billing alignment

Identify and prevent revenue leakage through strong controls

Implement revenue assurance frameworks and audit mechanisms

Collaborate with finance and FP&A teams on revenue validation

3. Systems & Process Optimization

Oversee billing systems, platforms, and automation tools

Drive digital transformation and process automation in billing operations

Improve billing efficiency, scalability, and accuracy

Ensure integration with core banking, ERP, and financial systems

4. Collections & Cash Flow Management

Lead collections strategy and improve receivables management

Monitor aging reports and reduce outstanding receivables

Implement effective credit control and collection policies

Collaborate with treasury and finance teams on cash flow optimization

5. Regulatory Compliance & Governance

Ensure billing practices comply with financial regulations and internal policies

Maintain audit-ready documentation and reporting

Collaborate with compliance, audit, and legal teams

Address customer disputes and regulatory queries related to billing

6. Customer Experience & Dispute Resolution

Enhance billing transparency and customer satisfaction

Resolve billing disputes and ensure timely communication with clients

Improve billing clarity, accuracy, and accessibility

Support customer-centric billing solutions

7. Leadership & Team Management

Lead and develop billing, collections, and revenue assurance teams

Establish KPIs and performance standards

Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Support talent development and succession planning

Key Requirements

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) are preferred

Experience

10–15+ years of experience in billing, revenue operations, finance, or accounting

Proven experience in senior leadership roles (e.g., Head of Billing, Revenue Operations Leader)

Experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or investment sectors is highly preferred
