Head of IT — Insurance & Investments

Job Summary

The Head of IT is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, operations, security, infrastructure, applications, and technology services of an organization.

Within an Insurance & Investments business, the role ensures that IT systems and infrastructure effectively support insurance operations, investment management, finance, risk, compliance, customer services, and corporate functions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the organization's IT strategy and roadmap.

Lead IT operations, infrastructure, networks, cloud, applications, and technical support.

Oversee technology platforms supporting insurance, investment, finance, risk, and corporate operations.

Manage cybersecurity, information security, IT risk, access controls, and data protection.

Establish IT governance, policies, standards, controls, and service-management processes.

Lead digital transformation, automation, system modernization, and technology improvement initiatives.

Oversee ERP, CRM, core insurance, investment-management, financial, and enterprise applications.

Manage enterprise architecture, databases, integrations, APIs, cloud platforms, and networks.

Ensure IT availability, performance, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience.

Lead major system implementations, migrations, upgrades, integrations, and technology projects.

Manage IT budgets, technology vendors, outsourcing partners, contracts, and procurement.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, and financial-services requirements.

Develop IT performance metrics, SLAs, service standards, and reporting.

Partner with business leaders to identify technology requirements and opportunities.

Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop IT teams.

Advise senior management on technology investments, risks, priorities, and transformation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

10–18+ years of IT/technology experience.

5+ years in Head of IT, Head of Technology, IT Director, Technology Director, CIO, CTO, or equivalent leadership positions.

Experience in insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, wealth management, or financial services preferred.
