About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified Relationship Manager – Corporate Banking to join our Corporate Banking team. The successful candidate will be responsible for retaining, growing, and acquiring a portfolio of corporate clients, contributing directly to the Banks strategic objectives of profitable volume growth. This role involves cross-selling and up-selling banking solutions, strengthening existing client relationships, and managing a portfolio of borrowing and non-borrowing accounts. The Relationship Manager will be accountable for driving profitable growth, deepening client engagement, and ensuring the retention and performance of assigned corporate accounts within the growth segment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute individual market and sales plans to acquire new clients and grow assigned portfolios
  • Build, advance, and actively replenish a pipeline of prospective clients to achieve acquisition and revenue targets
  • Design and implement needs-based sales strategies in collaboration with internal partners to increase revenue, client profitability, and client loyalty
  • Use sales enablers such as targeted prospecting and pre-call planning tools to enhance client engagement
  • Price facilities and collect fees within prescribed guidelines while balancing sales performance, portfolio profitability, and relationship management
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline meeting minimum aggregate value and client volume requirements
  • Conduct financial analysis and recommend terms, conditions, pricing, and covenants in collaboration with the Credit Solutions Manager
  • Prepare and submit credit applications jointly with the Credit Solutions Manager
  • Ensure timely follow-up on credit approvals and respond swiftly to issues, amendments, or extensions, escalating where necessary
  • Build and maintain a strong market profile within the assigned market area through internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure effective client onboarding, portfolio monitoring, and ongoing servicing
  • Complete credit reviews within required timeframes in partnership with the Credit Solutions Manager
  • Maintain accurate monthly Relationship Manager Portfolio Activity Logs with clearly documented action plans
  • Monitor portfolio performance and take immediate corrective action where lending excesses or collateral issues arise
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Management Studies, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum of five years experience in the banking industry
  • Strong knowledge of the corporate and commercial banking marketplace in Jamaica
  • Solid understanding of assigned market areas, key industries, and competitive positioning
  • At least five years experience in general credit, including corporate lending and loan administration 
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to assess lending and credit risks
  • Thorough understanding of commercial banking objectives, segment strategies, structures, and lending and deposit products
  • Working knowledge of the Banking Act 1992, Banking Amendment Act 1997, and Bank of Jamaica regulations related to credit classification, provisioning, and non-accrual requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to apply contemporary management and supervisory practices, including managing challenging team dynamics
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills in marketing banking products and services
  • Demonstrated success in business development, prospecting, and referral generation
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications and banking systems used by the Bank
