Virtual Tax Accountant (Philippines) Supporting a Sydney-Based Accounting Firm

Position Title: Virtual Tax Accountant (Australian Tax Specialist)

Location: Remote (Philippines)

Reports to: Accountant/Partner

Work Hours: Australian business hours (AEST), full-time 9am to 6pm


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate financial statements and Australian tax returns for a portfolio of
  • clients, including individuals, companies, partnerships, unit trusts, and discretionary

  • Manage and review BAS/IAS/GST preparations and ensure compliance with Australian
  • Taxation Office (ATO) regulations
  • Handle and respond to ATO audits and inquiries in a professional manner
  • Advise on updates and changes in Australian tax laws and ensure clients are compliant
  • Process and reconcile invoices, payments, and expenses; perform bank and credit card
  • reconciliations
  • Assist with inter-entity transactions, including Div7A and income distributions to
  • shareholders or beneficiaries
  • Maintain and update client accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and statements as required
  • Communicate clearly and professionally team members regarding financial matters
  • Stay up to date with accounting regulations, best practices, and software relevant to
  • Australian taxation


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in Australian tax accounting or similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CA certification is highly desirable
  • Proficient in Australian accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or similar
  • platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax regulations, BAS/IAS/GST, and compliance

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple client portfolios, and meet deadlines


Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in handling business group transactions and understanding inter-entity

  • Familiarity with superannuation, Div7A, and SMSF loans is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Technical Requirements

  • Should have personal and working laptop/ Desktop, and one (1) back up
  • Has Noise-cancelling headset (for interview and meetings)
  • Back up internet connection (at least 30-50 mbps)
