Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Orbital Welder to join our team. The Orbital Welder will be responsible for performing high-quality, automated welds on various materials and components using orbital welding equipment. This role requires precision, adherence to strict quality standards, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of welding principles, experience with orbital welding processes, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate automated orbital welding equipment according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Perform orbital welding on various materials, including but not limited to stainless steel, carbon steel, and other alloys.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
  • Ensure welds meet stringent quality standards, including dimensional accuracy, penetration, and fusion.
  • Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion using visual inspection and other non-destructive testing methods as required.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot orbital welding equipment, performing routine maintenance and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Document welding parameters, procedures, and results accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Clean and maintain the welding work area.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in welding is highly preferred.
  • Certification on small bore tubing is a must.
  • Experience with 1 1/2 diameter inch pipe welding experience is a must.
  • Proven experience as an Orbital Welder, with a strong understanding of orbital welding processes (GTAW/TIG preferred).
