Position Overview:
A leading contract manufacturer of custom-engineered thermoplastic, liquid silicone rubber (LSR), and thermoset parts and assemblies is seeking a Mold Maker / Manufacturing Technician for their Leominster, MA facility. This hands-on role involves building, modifying, and repairing molds using both CNC and manual machining techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in toolmaking and precision machining and be comfortable working in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Build new molds from raw materials using CNC and manual machining equipment
Repair and modify existing molds with high attention to precision and quality
Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds as part of repair and maintenance procedures
Interpret technical drawings and 3D models to guide machining and assembly tasks
Operate lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and other manual/CNC tools
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges to ensure tight tolerances
Work closely with engineering and production teams to diagnose and resolve tooling issues and recommend design or process improvements
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with safety and operational standards
Perform other Tool Room or manufacturing duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mold making, tool & die, or precision machining
Proficient with both manual and CNC machining equipment
Strong understanding of mold construction and repair techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Experience with plastics, LSR, and thermoset molding is a plus
Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
