Position Overview:
An established automotive dealership in Roanoke, VA is seeking a skilled and experienced Controller/Accounting Manager to oversee its financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a key leadership role within the dealership, working closely with the General Manager and the Accounting Team (including title clerks, billing specialists, AR, and AP staff). This is a hands-on position suited for a results-driven professional with deep automotive dealership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and manufacturer requirements.

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Collaborate with dealership management to improve profitability and operational efficiency through data-driven strategies.

  • Expense Control: Monitor dealership expenses, identify areas for cost savings, and coach team members on financial accountability.

  • Accounting Operations: Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with GAAP and dealership standards.

  • Tax Compliance: Oversee all tax filings and payments, ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws and reporting deadlines.

  • Cash Flow Management: Design and manage effective cash flow processes to support dealership operations and minimize financial risk.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience in an automotive dealership environment as a Controller or Business Manager.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and automotive industry accounting practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and dealership accounting systems (CDK experience preferred).

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to achieving results.
