Position Overview:
An established automotive dealership in Roanoke, VA is seeking a skilled and experienced Controller/Accounting Manager to oversee its financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a key leadership role within the dealership, working closely with the General Manager and the Accounting Team (including title clerks, billing specialists, AR, and AP staff). This is a hands-on position suited for a results-driven professional with deep automotive dealership experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and manufacturer requirements.

Financial Planning & Analysis: Collaborate with dealership management to improve profitability and operational efficiency through data-driven strategies.

Expense Control: Monitor dealership expenses, identify areas for cost savings, and coach team members on financial accountability.

Accounting Operations: Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with GAAP and dealership standards.

Tax Compliance: Oversee all tax filings and payments, ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws and reporting deadlines.

Cash Flow Management: Design and manage effective cash flow processes to support dealership operations and minimize financial risk.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience in an automotive dealership environment as a Controller or Business Manager.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.

Thorough understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and automotive industry accounting practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and dealership accounting systems (CDK experience preferred).

Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
