Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000 annually
Position Overview:
Registered Nurse Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring for complex medical and surgical conditions. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound clinical judgment, thrives in a collaborative team environment, and is experienced in recognizing early signs of deterioration in patient conditions.
This role involves caring for a diverse population, including pre/post-PCI, pacemaker, CHF, COPD, DKA, PE, sepsis, renal failure, and various surgical patients. Nurses in this unit operate advanced medical equipment and provide critical support during periods of patient instability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect patient care for PCU-level patients
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Operate equipment such as A-lines, IV pumps, ventilators, and telemetry systems
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage complex clinical conditions
- Participate in patient/family education and discharge planning
- Precept and support newer staff as a clinical leader
- Delegate responsibilities to support staff and ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment
Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree from an accredited nursing program required
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in an advanced medical/surgical or progressive care setting required
- Pediatric and telemetry experience preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current RN license in the State of Montana required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- EPNC and TNCC preferred
Skills:
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Familiarity with invasive lines, ventilatory support, and advanced monitoring equipment
- Ability to interpret EKGs and respond to emergent patient needs
