About the job Scrum Master

The Scrum Master is a servant leader responsible for facilitating the Scrum process within an Agile development team. This role focuses on removing impediments, guiding the team towards best practices, and ensuring the successful execution of sprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies:

    • Plan meetings (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective)

    • Guide the team in creating and maintaining the product backlog

    • Ensure the team adheres to Scrum principles and values

    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team

  • Remove Impediments:

    • Identify and actively remove obstacles that hinder the team's progress

    • Work with stakeholders to resolve issues and unblock the team

    • Escalate roadblocks to management when necessary

  • Coaching and Mentoring:

    • Coach the team on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement

    • Guide the team in developing self-organization and accountability

    • Mentor team members on technical and soft skills as needed

  • Product Backlog Management:

    • Assist the Product Owner in maintaining a clear and prioritized product backlog

    • Ensure the product backlog is visible, transparent, and readily available to the team

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact the sprint or project

    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Facilitate sprint retrospectives to identify areas for improvement

    • Implement changes based on retrospective findings to enhance team performance

    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a related Agile role

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders

  • Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)

  • Relevant Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM)) are a plus
