Key responsibilities

The Senior Support Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of daily IT infrastructure operations to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role involves the meticulous management of data center resources, including server hardware, software, and networking components, to support the organizations IT requirements. The Senior Support Engineer is tasked with continuously monitoring system performance, identifying and troubleshooting issues proactively to prevent downtime and ensure seamless operations. Additionally, this role includes implementing and maintaining robust security protocols to safeguard the IT infrastructure against potential threats. It is required to collaborate with various teams to support IT projects and initiatives, ensuring that infrastructure systems are aligned with organizational goals and standards. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

Principle Accountabilities (with percentage):

  1. IT Infrastructure Management (25%)
  2. Regularly maintain and update hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
  3. Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of server and network infrastructure.
  4. Plan for future infrastructure needs to support business growth.
  5. Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and business contingency.
  6. Work with vendors to procure and manage IT infrastructure components.
  7. IT Operations (25%)
  8. Continuously monitor IT systems to ensure they are running smoothly.
  9. Quickly respond to and resolve IT incidents to minimize downtime.
  10. Perform regular maintenance tasks to keep systems up-to-date.
  11. Provide technical support to end users to resolve IT issues.
  12. Maintain detailed records of IT operations and procedures.
  13. Application Systems Administration (20%)
  14. Install, configure, and maintain business applications.
  15. Administer application user accounts and collaborate with department representatives.
  16. Provide support to users for application-related issues.
  17. Optimize application performance to ensure efficient operation.
  18. Apply updates and patches to applications to keep them secure and up-to-date.
  19. Security Enforcement (10%)
  20. Enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect data and systems.
  21. Manage user access to systems and data to ensure only authorized personnel have access.
  22. Continuously monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities.
  23. Respond to security incidents promptly to mitigate risks.
  24. Assist in regular security audits or assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
  25. Collaborate with Other Departments (10%)
  26. Work with other departments to understand their IT needs and requirements.
  27. Coordinate IT projects with other departments to ensure alignment with business goals.
  28. Provide IT training and support to other departments.
  29. Participate in cross-functional teams to drive IT initiatives and gather feedback to improve IT operations.
  30. Data Center and Meeting Room Management (10%)
  31. Keep an eye on all the physical and virtual systems to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  32. Plan ahead to ensure the data center can handle more data and users as needed.
  33. Protect the data and systems with strong security measures and follow all relevant rules and regulations.
  34. Implement practices to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency of the data center.
  35. Regularly check the performance of data center systems to quickly fix any issues.
  36. Manage, monitor, and support all facilities and resources in meeting rooms.

Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Possesses a robust technical background in IT Infrastructure and manages IT Operations. Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Brings extensive experience in security management.
  • Well-versed in enterprise IT Application Systems knowledge.

Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, particularly in diagnosing and resolving desktop issues.
  • Proficient in identifying and addressing technical problems efficiently.
  • Communicates effectively, facilitating seamless collaboration with technical teams.
  • Skilled in working cohesively with technical teams to achieve common goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in End User Computing Support and related job role.
