Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer (Durban North)

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop mechanical building services construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and mechanical building design standards.
2. Collaborate with architects, contractors and other construction professionals to ensure that engineering designs are feasible and meet all client project requirements.
3. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.
4. Develop and maintain project and contract documentation, including engineering design reports and drawings and specifications.
5. Ensure that construction projects meet statutory and regulatory requirements and adhere to building safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
6. Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary project team to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with defined quality standards.
7. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to senior project management team members.
8. Conduct regular project team meetings and provide guidance and support to multi-disciplinary project team members.
9. Ensure that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and project planning and milestone changes.
10. Manage own projects.
11. Produce monthly status reports.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Grade 12
2. Batchelor Of Engineering Mechanical Engineering or similar 4 year tertiary qualification in the same discipline
3. Three to five years post graduate working experience
4. Experience in Wet Services & HVAC
5. Have Revit experience (an added advantage)
6. Understanding of construction programs and contracts
7. Experience in measuring Bills Of Quantities & Payment Certificates
8. Experience in product design reports
