Your Role

As a Design & Proposal Engineer in the High-Speed Craft division, you will be instrumental in the development of new standard vessels and the optimization of the existing product portfolio. This will be done in close collaboration with various specialists, including those in Research, Engineering, Production, and Marketing, all focused on integrating the latest technological advancements, such as digitalization and sustainability. You will also be responsible for handling requests from the Sales department, working alongside the Sales Manager to provide technical, cost, and delivery-related information, as well as devising a strategy to support clients effectively. Your role will require close cooperation with other departments within Damen to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize (standard) designs to reduce costs while increasing the quality, reliability, and functionality of vessels.

• Consult with various departments and external parties to create optimized designs.

• Select the most suitable vessel and necessary equipment based on client criteria, drawing from Damens standard designs and options.

• Draft or coordinate the drafting of the general plan, technical specifications, cost calculations, and delivery timelines based on client requests.

• Monitor the progress of projects during the pre-sales phase.

• Support the Sales Manager with technical input during client meetings, including presentations and calculations when necessary.

• Ensure a seamless knowledge transfer when a tender is converted into an order.

What Theyre Looking For

• Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Naval Architecture or Engineering.

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role is preferred.

• Personal Traits: A driven, ambitious, proactive individual who is willing to go the extra mile. The ideal candidate is hands-on, accurate, well-structured, reliable, and discreet.

• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a flexible and dynamic work environment.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch proficiency is a plus.
