Iron Worker - Field Erection

Position Summary: We are seeking experienced Iron Workers specializing in field erection of structural steel for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This role involves the assembly, connection, and installation of structural steel members on job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting structural drawings, shop drawings, and erection plans to determine layout, sequence, and connection details. Unloading, sorting, and staging structural steel members, including beams, columns, joists, decking, and miscellaneous metals. Rigging and signaling crane operators for safe hoisting and placement of steel members. Aligning and plumbing structural steel using tag lines, spud wrenches, drift pins, and come-alongs. Installing and torquing high-strength bolted connections per project specifications and AISC/RCSC standards. Performing tack welding and field welding as required (SMAW, FCAW). Installing metal decking, handrails, stairs, ladders, and miscellaneous steel components. Building and maintaining safe work platforms, perimeter protection, and fall arrest systems in compliance with OSHA standards. Coordinating with general contractors, crane operators, and other trades to maintain project sequencing.

Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel erection in a field setting. Ability to read and interpret structural and erection drawings. Proficiency with rigging, bolting, and basic field welding. Working knowledge of OSHA fall protection requirements and steel erection standards (Subpart R). Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. AWS D1.1 structural welding certification is a plus. Journeyman Iron Worker card or equivalent apprenticeship completion preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly. Prolonged standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working at elevation. Manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools in field conditions.
