Build the Business. Own the Hunt. Get Rewarded.
An established, family-owned transportation and logistics company is looking for an experienced National Sales Executive – Freight Brokerage to help lead the next phase of growth.
This is a true hunter sales role. We're looking for someone who wakes up thinking, Who can I sell today?
Your primary responsibility will be to identify and win new shipper relationships, develop freight opportunities, and bring new business into the organization. Once the business is won, you'll have an experienced brokerage and operations team behind you to help execute it.
You sell. We execute.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished logistics salesperson to make a meaningful impact at an established, financially healthy company that is actively building its next generation of sales leadership.
About the Company
Our client is an established, family-owned transportation and logistics company approaching its 25th anniversary.
With approximately 20 employees, the company has built a strong reputation through organic growth and a long-tenured team. Many employees have been with the organization for a decade or longer.
The company's historical foundation includes printed media distribution and LTL transportation, which remains an important and profitable part of the business. However, leadership is strategically expanding its freight brokerage operation, particularly truckload and broader transportation services.
The infrastructure is already in place. Now the company is investing in the sales talent needed to accelerate growth.
The Opportunity
As National Sales Executive, you'll be responsible for:
- Hunting for and winning new shipper accounts
- Prospecting through cold calling, email, networking, referrals, and other outbound strategies
- Building relationships with transportation decision-makers
- Identifying freight opportunities and developing a qualified pipeline
- Personally leading the sales process from prospecting through close
- Growing revenue and margin through new customer acquisition
- Selling truckload, LTL, and other transportation solutions based on customer needs
- Developing opportunities across a variety of commodities and freight types
- Meeting with customers virtually and in person when appropriate
- Working closely with leadership and operations to successfully onboard new business
- Transitioning day-to-day freight execution to the existing operations team so you can remain focused on business development
- Maintaining consistent activity, pipeline development, customer meetings, and revenue-producing efforts
This is not a cradle-to-grave brokerage position where you'll spend your days finding customers and your nights covering trucks.
Your job is to find the freight and grow the business.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Proven sales experience within freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or a closely related industry
- Demonstrated history of hunting and winning new shipper business
- Strong prospecting and cold-calling skills
- Ability to independently develop a sales pipeline
- Strong understanding of the transportation industry
- Demonstrated sales production and measurable results
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset and strong sense of ownership
- Comfort being measured on activity, pipeline development, revenue, and margin production
Strongly Preferred
- Existing relationships with shippers or transportation decision-makers
- Demonstrated ability to build a book of business from scratch
- Specific examples of significant accounts personally won
- History of producing measurable revenue and/or gross margin
- Experience selling multiple transportation modes or services
- Strong customer-facing presentation skills
- Experience with truckload, LTL, reefer, flatbed, oversized, specialized, or other brokerage services
- Experience selling customized or comprehensive transportation solutions
Your Existing Book Is Welcome — But It's Not Required
We value candidates with strong existing relationships, but you do not need to bring a portable book of business to be successful here.
If you're currently subject to a non-solicit or other restriction that prevents you from approaching existing customers, we will still consider you.
What matters most is whether you've demonstrated that you can consistently win business.
If you've built a book once, we believe you can build another one.
Why Join This Opportunity?
Sell Without Getting Buried in Operations
You'll have an experienced team supporting the freight after you bring it in.
The existing infrastructure includes:
- Brokerage management
- Experienced brokerage and operations professionals
- Pricing support
- LTL pricing expertise
- IT support
- Accounting
- AP/AR
- Carrier payment support
- Invoicing
- Tracking
- Claims support
- Established TMS and technology infrastructure
You won't be expected to do everything yourself.
Uncapped Earning Potential
We want producers to make money.
The compensation structure includes a competitive base salary and uncapped commission, with earning potential tied directly to production.
Compensation is flexible based on experience, demonstrated production, and overall fit.
Join an Established Company That's Still Building
The company has nearly 25 years of history, a financially healthy business, and an experienced team — but is still small enough that one great salesperson can make a significant difference.
You're not stepping into a finished sales organization.
You're helping build the next one.
Potential for Growth
The company is intentionally expanding its sales organization, and successful early hires can have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and leadership as the organization grows.
The company prefers to promote from within.
Instead of simply climbing the corporate ladder, you'll have an opportunity to help build the ladder.
Family-Owned Culture
You'll work directly with leadership in an organization where relationships matter.
This is not a giant brokerage where you're simply another number. The company values long-term employees, personal accountability, collaboration, and the ability to make things happen without layers of corporate bureaucracy.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary based on experience and proven production
- Uncapped commission
- Health insurance
- Company-provided laptop/workstation
- Business travel support
- Company credit card may be provided after an initial period
- Support for customer visits and face-to-face selling
- Travel expenses supported when there is a legitimate business case
- Strong operational support behind every new customer you win
The philosophy is simple:
If the activity generates business and makes money, we'll support it.
What Success Looks Like
We understand that strong relationships don't always turn into immediate revenue.
During the initial 60–90 days, we'll be looking for evidence that you're building toward success:
- Consistent prospecting activity
- Meaningful conversations with shippers
- Customer meetings
- Qualified opportunities entering the pipeline
- Reactivation of relevant relationships
- Growing pipeline value
- Forward momentum toward revenue and margin
We're willing to provide a reasonable runway to build the business.
What we don't want is someone who spends months collecting a paycheck without creating meaningful activity or opportunity.
Who Will Thrive Here?
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Loves hunting for new business
- Gets energized by opening doors
- Has a proven history of winning freight
- Wants significant earning potential
- Doesn't need to be micromanaged
- Wants the freedom of a remote sales environment
- Values having a strong operations team behind them
- Enjoys working with ownership and leadership directly
- Wants to help build something rather than simply inherit a territory
- Sees an opportunity where others see a small company
If your favorite part of logistics is winning the customer, we'd like to talk.
Interview Process
Our process is designed to move quickly:
1. Video Interview
Initial conversation via Teams.
2. Leadership Interview
Additional discussion with business development leadership and company leadership.
For select, highly compensated candidates, a final onsite meeting may be requested.
We're prepared to move quickly for the right producer.
