About the job Controller
We are seeking a Controller for a healthcare company. This is a full time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in New York. They are open to a remote person in the New York, New Jersey or Connecticut area, but they will need to work onsite once a week or 4 days a month.
You should be an analytical problem-solver with proven knowledge of US GAAP accounting and the ability to lead the entire finance and accounting operations. You will be a critical member of the accounting organization, and you will have certain required responsibilities that will need to be performed at the Company's New York City headquarters on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all direct accounting staff members.
- Manage all finance and accounting department operations, which includes all financial reporting, proper revenue and cost recognition, working capital transaction management, liquidity and cash reporting, payroll processing and employee benefits, vendor contracts and relationships, cost controls and business risk management.
- Perform month-end accounting close process, including all monthly account reconciliations.
- Prepare and publish GAAP monthly internal financial statements on a timely basis and supervise distribution of all other internal management reports on a timely basis.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Streamline accounting processes using technology.
- Develop and implement KPIs, manage internal data collection and reporting.
- Assist with reviewing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collection of all receivables.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual operating budget and financial forecast variances.
- Support month-end and year-end general ledger process using accounting software.
- Manage annual audit and tax return process with CPA firm.
- Supervise all contract administration.
- Comply with state and federal government reporting requirements and filings.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience as a Controller closing GAAP financial statements.
- 15 years of total accounting experience.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience in applying U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- BS or MS in Accounting is required, but a CPA is preferred.
- Solid understanding of deferred revenue concepts and dealing with recurring membership revenue.
- Experience working with multi-sites and consolidating multiple entities.
- Relevant health care and MSO experience is preferred.
- Proven track record of identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and implementing new processes successfully and with meaningful results.
- Able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment while being a team player who is willing to roll up your sleeves to do whatever is needed to deliver a great patient experience.
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Must be able to work independently and efficiently, with acute attention to details and deadlines. Especially while working on multiple work streams.
