About the job Substation Automation Engineer
Job Purpose:
Designing and implementing automation systems for electrical substations, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the power infrastructure by integrating modern equipment with SCADA solutions and industry communication standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design and configure substation automation systems (RTUs, PLCs, IED Integration and communication devices);
- Implement and integrate SCADA and HMI systems in line with security, reliability, and operational requirements;
- Configure and test communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, etc.);
- Analyze electrical and logical diagrams to ensure seamless integration into control and automation systems;
- Participate in factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and handover of automation systems;
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams;
- Prepare and maintain project documentation (technical reports, test protocols, functional diagrams, user manuals);
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (protection, telecom, IT) as well as external vendors and partners;
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and cyber security requirements for critical infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in substation automation design, integration, or commissioning;
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, RTUs, PLCs, and IEDs;
- Proficiency with communication protocols and standards (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus);
- Hands-on experience with system testing, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and logic diagrams;
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project execution;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
