JOB PURPOSE
The Commercial Manager is responsible for implementing and steering the Pioneer strategy, as validated with the governing Board, across several commercial sites within the assigned geographical area. The role ensures operational alignment, productivity, and performance of all plateaus under their coordination, driving business growth, profitability, and adherence to the established commercial model.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure proper execution of Pioneer strategic action plans within the assigned area.
- Translate and implement the strategic vision into measurable local actions.
- Drive consistency, performance, and efficiency across all plateaus.
- Monitor key operational KPIs and apply corrective measures when needed.
- Identify business development opportunities and propose improvement initiatives.
- Provide timely and qualitative reporting on area performance.
Client / Supplier Management
- Support Plateau Managers in strengthening supplier relationships.
- Oversee local sourcing strategies and marketing campaign implementation.
- Monitor negotiation consistency and supplier portfolio quality.
- Ensure post-transaction follow-up and compliance with commercial standards.
Turnover Planning and Forecasting
- Contribute to defining turnover targets and cost structure.
- Oversee area-level VVHT (turnover) progress versus target.
- Ensure site budgets align with the validated business plan.
Reporting
- Conduct monthly and quarterly performance reviews.
- Consolidate and analyze results from all plateaus to provide actionable insights.
- Communicate key findings and recommended measures.
People Management
- Supervise Plateau Managers within the area.
- Coach and develop managers to maximize performance.
- Validate and monitor site organizational structures.
- Ensure knowledge transfer, cooperation, and team alignment.
- Lead coordination meetings to track KPIs and share best practices.
Human Resources & Communication
- Ensure HR compliance (staffing, evaluations, follow-up plans).
- Monitor performance appraisal processes for consistency.
- Promote internal communication and reinforce organizational culture.
- Encourage internal mobility and team development.
Performance Appraisal & Competence Development
- Monitor application and quality of performance reviews.
- Identify skills gaps and propose development or coaching initiatives.
- Support continuous professional growth of managers and their teams.
Disciplinary Actions
- Implement managerial actions in cases of misconduct, performance deviation, or noncompliance.
Recruitment & Development
- Participate in recruitment and selection for key roles.
- Collaborate with HR and training partners on workforce planning and onboarding.
Communication
- Communicate decisions from the Pioneer Committee or governing Board.
- Ensure transparency and consistency in operational information flow.
Decision-Making
- Make timely decisions with area-wide impact.
- Intervene rapidly when performance or compliance issues arise.
- Propose structural or procedural improvements.
Project Management
- Lead and coordinate strategic projects within the assigned area.
- Structure project roadmaps, define milestones, and monitor progress.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure execution.
- Identify risks or delays and propose corrective actions.
- Evaluate project outcomes and share best practices.

Operational & Financial KPIs
- Achievement of turnover (VVHT) objectives (value and %).
- Transformation rate of commercial opportunities.
- Evolution of supplier portfolio size and quality.
- Cost-to-turnover ratio.
- Implementation rate of strategic actions.
- Operational efficiency and consistency across plateaus.
Team Management KPIs
- Quality and timeliness of performance management processes.
- Maximum 10% loss of top performers.
- Development and autonomy of Plateau Managers.
- Cross-site collaboration and strategic alignment.
Strategic & Project KPIs
- Successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Continuous improvement actions proposed and implemented.
- Accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Languages / Technical Skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree (Business, Management, or related field).
- English (minimum B2); French is an asset.
- Technical skills: Microsoft Office, CRM, Selligent, Cognos.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in commercial management, including multi-site or regional coordination.
- Experience in clearance, wholesale, or B2B sourcing is an advantage.
