Job Description: Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) Heavy-Duty Mechanic

Location: Various (Ontario, Alberta, BC)

Shift Pattern: 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off (Flexible, subject to change)

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor/Manager

Position Summary

The FIFO Heavy-Duty Mechanic will perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on various heavy-duty machinery and equipment at our remote project site. This role demands high physical fitness, problem-solving skills, and adaptability. The ideal candidate will have remote location experience and be comfortable working in challenging conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy machinery's mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic faults.

2. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and equipment inspections.

3. Troubleshoot and repair breakdowns efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.

4. Maintain an organized and safe workspace, adhering to company and industry safety standards.

5. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

6. Collaborate closely with other team members and departments to ensure machinery operates reliably and efficiently.

7. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts ordered, and inventory levels.

8. Adapt to changing conditions, especially in remote and challenging environments.

9. Offer recommendations on repair processes and preventative maintenance to management.

10. Attend regular safety meetings and training sessions.


Qualifications:

1. Recognized Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic certification. Red Seal

2. 4 years of experience with heavy-duty equipment repair and maintenance.

3. Experience working in remote locations is preferred.

4. Strong diagnostic skills with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.

5. Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.

6. Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.

7. Familiarity with safety protocols, first aid, and risk assessment.

8. Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.

9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information:

- This is a FIFO position, meaning the selected candidate will be flown to the remote work site for their shift and flown back at the end.

- Accommodation, meals, and transportation between the airport and the work site will be provided.
