Job Title: Nursing Department Manager, Cardiovascular Operating Room FT

Type: Onsite, Permanent
Salary: USD $148,800 $192,500 / yr

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages the delivery of nursing services and safe patient care on a 24-hour basis, ensuring compliance with standards and performance measures.
  • Establishes and maintains patient care and service standards to meet organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops strategic plans for integrated services and continuous improvement of clinical practices.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, identifies cost-saving strategies, and ensures appropriate staffing levels.
  • Develops and monitors departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Manages human resource and risk management issues, promoting an organizational culture of safety.
  • Participates in leadership committees and forums at various levels.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, including three (3) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
  • Education: Academic degree in nursing required (Bachelors or Masters degree). BSN and National Health/Nursing Administration Certification or MSN required for certain departments.
  • License/Certification/Registration: Registered Nurse License (California), Basic Life Support.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, TJC, and other regulations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and management skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with electronic medical records.
  • Masters degree.
  • National Certification in specialty.

Non-negotiable Requirements:

  1. California RN license.
  2. American Heart Association BLS.
  3. BSN or MSN.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of FT equivalent operating room RN experience in an acute care setting, with a few years of cardiothoracic OR experience.
  5. Minimum of 3 years of FT equivalent Manager or Supervisor experience, not including Charge Nurse experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • MSN.
  • CNOR.
  • Management experience in a union environment.
