JOB SUMMARY / PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. The Paralegal Officer is generally tasked to perform legal secretarial tasks specific to the legal corporate field.
  1. The Paralegal Officer is generally tasked to ensure that all policies, guidelines, procedures, and internal controls set by the management and other regulatory bodies are complied with and undertaken by the department.
  1. The Paralegal Officer shall ensure adherence to existing internal control procedures while maintaining the highest quality of service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Management
    1. Prepares affidavits, legal correspondence, and other documents for attorneys.
    1. Provides the Management with practical legal advice on business issues and company strategies in various legal topics.
    1. Draft pleading, memos, contracts, and affidavits.
    1. Set the strategy and goals for the paralegal team, which should be aligned with the organizational goals.
    1. Ensures all the needs and queries of the stakeholders and Board of Directors are effectively and adequately addressed.
    1. Conducts Performance Evaluation.
    1. Monitor and report monthly case updates on all cases involving the Bank.
    1. Participates in strategic and operational planning activities of the company.
    1. Performs other related tasks that may be assigned by immediate superiors occasionally.
  1. Operation

Sets internal governance policies, manages external factors' impact, anticipates issues, and estimates legal risks strategically by Identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate the legal risks.

  • Attends promptly and efficiently to internal and external clients needs, requests, inquiries, or complaints and takes appropriate action.
  • Meet with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to discuss case details.
  • Filing of pleadings with the court clerk.
  • Helps in preparation for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Direct and coordinate law department activity, including delivery of subpoenas.
  • Gather and analyze statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, documents, and other data.
  • Calls on witnesses to testify at hearings.
  • Keep the law library up to date by monitoring legal volumes.
  • Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system
  • Ensures targets and goals of the Legal Department are achieved.

COMPETENCIES:

  1. Proven general counseling experience in business and banking environments.
  2. Proficient in various computer software applications, including Word processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation, Document Management, and Transcription.
  3. Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  4. Writing and transcriptional skills are a must.
  5. Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

Education

:

Must hold a Bachelor of Laws preferably with Paralegal Diploma.

Experience

:

At least 2-years of extensive experience in Corporate Law/Loan Documentation/Collections/Litigation from a reputable banking/ financial services industry and law firm.

Others

:

Must be able to analyze and solve complex problems. Strong experience in various legal advisory and deep knowledge of corporate and commercial laws. With strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
