About Trideca

Trideca is Australia's trusted strategy, AI, and digital transformation partner - helping some of the nation's largest enterprises (including NAB, Suncorp, Optus, Medibank, and AGL) drive meaningful business impact through technology.

With offices in Melbourne and Sydney and projects spanning multiple industries, we thrive on solving complex challenges, delivering cutting-edge solutions, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

About the Role

Trideca is looking for a hands-on Automation Test Engineer to join a highly capable engineering team building enterprise integration solutions across platforms including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, SailPoint and Entra ID. This is not a UI-focused testing role — your work will centre on automating the validation of complex backend data flows, APIs, asynchronous messaging and file-based integrations.

The systems you'll test are built to be highly fault-tolerant and resilient: when something fails, processing must resume from the point of failure, not start over. A core part of this role is proving that resilience — deliberately simulating outages and failures across connected systems, and verifying the platform recovers exactly as designed.

What You'll Do

  • Build automation frameworks: Design, build and maintain automated test frameworks for RESTful APIs, webhook ingestion and data synchronisation — using Playwright or Selenium with C#.
  • Validate end-to-end data flows: Write automation to verify the four core integration patterns: file to API, API to API, API to file, and file-to-file transformations.
  • API mocking: Stand up mocked endpoints (e.g. WireMock) so test suites run reliably in CI/CD pipelines without hitting live target environments — simulating successes, failures and duplicate rejections through data-driven mocks.
  • Component & integration testing: Perform component and system integration testing across multi-system integration projects.
  • Resilience & failure testing: Design and execute tests that deliberately take systems down mid-flow to validate fault-tolerance patterns — retries, circuit breakers, dead letter queues and resume-from-failure behaviour.
  • Asynchronous & queue testing: Inject and validate messages through brokers such as Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ or Kafka in event-driven architectures.
  • Performance testing: Execute load and stress testing to verify memory management, CPU efficiency and behaviour under high volume.
  • CI/CD integration: Integrate automated suites into YAML-based deployment pipelines for immediate feedback on every build.
  • Manual support: Complement the team on manual and UAT testing during release cycles where needed.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in automation testing / SDET roles with a strong focus on backend, API and integration testing.
  • Hands-on automation experience with Playwright or Selenium using C# (essential). Strong JavaScript-based automation skills will also be considered.
  • Solid experience with component testing and system integration testing on enterprise integration projects.
  • Experience mocking and virtualising APIs (e.g. WireMock or similar) and running test suites inside CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience testing asynchronous, event-driven systems and message brokers (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ or Kafka).
  • Scripting ability for file-based test scenarios — generating, dropping and validating files as part of automated flows.
  • Exposure to performance, load and resilience/chaos testing approaches.
  • Experience working within a .NET engineering environment is highly regarded.
  • Working knowledge of YAML pipelines, cloud-native services and modern logging frameworks.
