Position: Respiratory Therapist - Geriatric
Salary Range: $36 - $40 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8-hour day shift with every other weekend
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team and provide specialized care to our geriatric patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of respiratory conditions commonly seen in the elderly population and be able to provide comprehensive treatment plans to improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of respiratory function in geriatric patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with respiratory conditions, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and chest physiotherapy
- Monitor and adjust respiratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and patient comfort
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for patients
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patient progress and treatment plans
- Stay current with advancements and changes in respiratory therapy techniques and technology
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Valid state license and certification as a Respiratory Therapist
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy, preferably working with geriatric patients
- Strong understanding of respiratory conditions and treatments for the elderly population
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays if needed
