Position Overview

Trinity Healthcare Talent Services is seeking a Travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a 13-week assignment in Frederick, Maryland.

This role is based in a fast-paced acute care hospital where the COTA will treat a diverse patient population including orthopedic, neurological, behavioral health, and critical care cases. The position includes a mix of 1:1 treatments, ADLs, and group therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist

  • Assist patients with ADLs, therapeutic activities, and functional mobility

  • Deliver 1:1 therapy sessions and group treatments

  • Monitor patient progress and communicate updates to supervising OT

  • Educate patients, families, and hospital staff

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems

  • Meet productivity standards and clinical expectations

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

  • Active Maryland COTA License (or eligibility)

  • Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital experience required

  • BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)

  • Strong communication, time management, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading group therapy sessions

  • Experience in hospital-based EMR systems

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Additional Details

  • Multidisciplinary team environment (~40 clinicians)

  • Productivity expectations: 65–75% (21–24 billable units/day)
