Position Overview

Trinity Healthcare Talent Services is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for a state-run developmental center in Columbus, OH.

This is a flexible, part-time role focused on evaluating and treating individuals with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.

Facility Information

  • Facility Type: Developmental Center (State Facility)
  • Setting: Long-term care / developmental disabilities
  • Schedule: Flexible hours (part-time)
  • Work Week: Monday – Friday
  • Weekends: Not required

Work Schedule Flexibility

Choose from multiple options:

  • 2–3 full days (8 hrs) per week
  • OR 4–5 shorter shifts
  • May start with full-time hours initially (40 hrs), then transition to part-time

Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct evaluations for:
    • Speech & language disorders
    • Cognitive-linguistic function
    • Swallowing (dysphagia)
    • Social/pragmatic communication
  • Assess need for AAC (augmentative communication devices)

Therapy & Treatment

  • Develop and implement:
    • Individual therapy plans
    • Group therapy sessions
  • Provide therapy for:
    • Communication disorders
    • Swallowing impairments
    • Functional life communication skills

Specialized Interventions

  • Train patients in:
    • AAC devices
    • Communication strategies
    • Daily functional communication (social settings, routines)
  • Recommend:
    • Diet modifications
    • Referrals and diagnostic testing (e.g., swallow studies)

Collaboration

  • Work with:
    • Physicians
    • Interdisciplinary care teams
    • Caregivers and family members
  • Provide staff training and education

Documentation

  • Maintain:
    • Therapy plans
    • Progress notes
    • Patient records
  • Ensure compliance with state and facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

Active SLP License (Ohio preferred)
Experience in:

  • Speech & language therapy
  • Dysphagia management

Strong documentation & communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with developmental disabilities
AAC device experience
Rehab / LTC / SNF background
