The Senior Payments Controls Officer supports the Senior Payments Manager in overseeing the Banks daily payments operations, ensuring strong governance, effective controls, and operational resilience. The role focuses on identifying risks, enhancing control frameworks, and driving continuous improvements across payments processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor daily payments processes, perform control checks, and identify operational risks or inefficiencies.
- Work closely with the Payments Processing Team to support pay-in/pay-out activities and related accounting tasks.
- Assist with daily funding management and coordination of treasury movements.
- Oversee settlement and fee reconciliations with payment service providers and drive automation and process improvements.
- Resolve reconciliation and operational queries with internal stakeholders.
- Track and analyse operational data, including KPIs, provider performance (uptime, declines, abandonment), and fraud/chargeback trends.
- Conduct and report post-release regression testing to ensure system stability.
- Support audits, risk assessments, and internal reviews to strengthen the control environment.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of procedures, risks, and controls.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on operational policies and controls.
- Prepare management reports highlighting operational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to cross‑department projects and payments-related initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Banking, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in payments operations or controls within EMI or banking.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy working with sensitive information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills.
