The Banking Operations Officer will be part of a newly formed department that consolidates client onboarding, documentation handling, and operational support across the Banks lending, corporate, and retail deposit products.

This role offers an excellent entry point for individuals looking to build a career in banking, offering hands-on experience in due diligence processes, client lifecycle management, and product support all within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

The position also offers the chance to collaborate closely with various departments across the bank, including Sales, Payments, Compliance, and Technology, providing a comprehensive understanding of banking operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, verify, and allocate required documentation for credit applications, file reviews, and KYB cases.
  • Perform customer due diligence (CDD) checks and escalate any red flags or suspicious activity in line with internal procedures and AML regulations.
  • Liaise with Compliance; MLRO and Product Managers to resolve onboarding queries and document gaps.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of customer records in core banking systems.
  • Support day-to-day operational activities linked to the Banks retail deposit products, including customer queries, account maintenance, and product servicing.
  • Assist in tracking and recording product-level data for reporting and analysis (e.g., volumes, costs, trends).
  • Contribute to process improvement and cost management under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
  • Support the execution of marketing or customer communication campaigns related to retail deposits, as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate and organised digital and physical filing systems.
  • Contribute to the drafting and revision of standard operating procedures within the team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to regulatory obligations, internal policies, and procedural guidelines.
  • Participate in related internal reviews, audits, and projects as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Contribute ideas for the improvement of operational systems and processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum Secondary Education, Ordinary / Advanced level education is preferred.
  • Experience within a similar operational role within a financial services institution.
  • Able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise work and work independently.
  • Able to demonstrate basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office for Windows (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Attention to detail, initiative and high standard of work.
  • Handle customer information with confidentiality.
  • Able to work within a diverse team and contribute to a cohesive work environment.
  • Be adaptable to change and champion new processes.
